MY NEW LIFE IN TUSCANY

After spending three wonderful years in Slovenia with my human (him… ten years!), we decided to start a new life in Tuscany. Yes, you heard that right, I am returning to the land of my ancestors. I was born in northern Italy, specifically in the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. So, this new chapter feels like a homecoming for me.

New life in Tuscany: the big departure

We left Slovenia on June 30th. My human had meticulously prepared everything for this long journey. We drove through the night to avoid the sweltering daytime heat. My human stopped every half hour to give me water and make sure I was okay.

We arrived in southern Tuscany by late morning the next day, under a blazing sun. This journey was tough on me, but it was totally worth it. That same evening, as a reward for my patience and endurance, my human gave me a big piece of ham pizza. He wanted to order a Hawaiian pizza (with pineapple), his favorite, but decided against getting banned from Italy on the first day. 😆

Our New Home

I quickly settled into this magnificent house from the early 17th century. It’s a true historical home (like something out of “Under the Tuscan Sun”). It is secluded and peaceful (which my human loves) with thick walls that keep the house cool, even when the outside temperature soars to 40 degrees (104 F). This is a great relief for me and my thick fur! And guess what? I even have a private little river running through the garden, perfect for cooling off.

Inside the house, I love lounging on the cool tiles of the living room while my human works on my website. It had been a long time since he last updated it. Now, he has been working on it for two weeks, and he even created an Italian version! È fantastico!

First Impressions and Discoveries

For now, we haven’t had much chance to explore the surroundings. We’ve only taken a quick stroll in the Val d’Orcia. The intense daytime heat is hard for me to handle, but I am sure we will soon have the opportunity to discover more of this beautiful region. My human promised that once the temperature drops a bit, we will venture out to explore the charming Tuscan villages, rolling hills, and picturesque vineyards. He even has a surprise planned for my birthday on July 31st.

Return to My Roots

This move to Tuscany is also a return to my roots. Being born in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia further north, I already feel connected to this Italian land. I am excited to reconnect with my roots and discover the treasures of this region. My human and I have already spotted some hiking trails that promise great adventures.

Looking Forward to my new life in Tuscany

Stay tuned to follow our Tuscan adventures! My human and I have many projects and places to explore. We will share our discoveries and happy moments here on this blog.
